Shoah Truths, Inc. ("Shoah Truths," "we," "us," or "our") works to combat Holocaust denial and distortion through education, historical memory preservation, community engagement, and advocacy support. This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, and share personal information when you visit www.shoahtruths.com (the "Site"), sign up for updates, donate through a link on the Site, or contact us about our work. "Personal information" means information that identifies you or could reasonably be linked to you.
Information we collect
Information you provide. Our email signup asks for your first and last name, email address, and whether you would like to sign up for news and updates. If you contact us, we receive the contact details and other information you choose to send. If you participate in a program or seek advocacy support, you may also provide information relevant to your inquiry, such as your personal information, family history, testimony, documents, photographs, or information about other people.
Donation information. Our Site links to PayPal to process donations. PayPal handles the payment information you enter on its platform. We may receive information needed to record and acknowledge a donation, such as your name, contact details, donation amount, date, and transaction status. We do not receive your full payment card number from PayPal.
Information collected during a visit. Squarespace, which hosts the Site, collects technical and usage information when you visit. This can include your IP address; browser, network, and device details; pages you visited before and while using the Site; and information about your interactions, such as visit times, clicks, and scrolling. Your IP address can be used to estimate your location. Depending on our settings and your cookie choices, Squarespace may also provide us with site analytics, such as visits and traffic sources. Squarespace may use site usage information for its own purposes, as explained in its Privacy Policy. Our cookie tool also records your preferences, as described below.
Please contact us before sending highly sensitive records or information about another person so that we can discuss an appropriate way to share them. Signing up for email updates does not require you to provide family history, testimony, or sensitive information like your religious beliefs.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
send updates about our work when you sign up and respond to your messages;
process, record, and acknowledge donations;
organize educational programs, community engagement, historical preservation, and advocacy support;
operate, understand, improve, and protect the Site and our communications; and
comply with legal obligations and protect the safety, rights, and property of Shoah Truths and others.
We use personal stories, testimony, and photographs in public materials only with appropriate permission. We do not add someone to our email list solely because they made a donation or contacted us about a private matter.
When we share information
We may share information with authorized staff and volunteers who need it for their work; providers that support our website, email, cookie preferences, and donation records; and, when relevant to an inquiry, attorneys, translators, historians, or other partners. We discuss proposed sharing of sensitive materials with the person who provided them and seek permission where appropriate. We may also disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, security concerns, or threats to safety.
We do not sell or rent our email or donor lists to other organizations for their independent marketing. We do not publicly identify a person seeking private advocacy support without appropriate permission.
When you leave our Site for PayPal or another service, that service handles information under its own privacy notice. Links to social media and other outside sites are also subject to those sites' privacy practices.
Cookies and your choices
Our Site is hosted by Squarespace and we use Cookiebot to manage cookie preferences. Cookies and similar technologies can help the Site function, remember preferences, support security, and, where enabled, measure how visitors use the Site. You can manage available choices through the cookie banner and your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect site features.
You can unsubscribe from our email updates using the link in a message or by emailing info@shoahtruths.com. We may still send messages necessary to respond to a request or administer a donation. You may also contact us to ask about, access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you. We will respond in accordance with applicable law and may need to verify your identity or retain certain records for legal reasons.
Where European Economic Area or United Kingdom data protection law applies, our legal bases may include your consent (for email updates and optional cookies), our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Site and responding to requests, compliance with legal obligations, and, where relevant, steps needed to fulfill an agreement with you. Information about religious beliefs or other sensitive matters is handled only when permitted by applicable law, including with explicit consent where required. Subject to applicable law, you may also withdraw consent, object to or restrict certain processing, request data portability, and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.
Retention, security, and international processing
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including maintaining an email subscription until you unsubscribe, addressing inquiries, documenting donations, and meeting legal or recordkeeping obligations. We then delete or de-identify information when appropriate. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards and limit access to people who need the information for their work. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.
Shoah Truths is based in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers or relevant partners work. Privacy laws in those places may differ from those where you live. We take steps required by applicable law for international transfers.

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information through it. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate steps.
